Gifty Edila is the Director of Law and Administration at the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. She is a non-practising Barrister and a practising Solicitor. She has been practising law for over 26 years.
 
Gifty manages  a budget of £5m and 75 staff in the Law and Administration Department which comprises Legal Services Division, Governance Services Division and the Civic Office and Mayoralty Division.
 
Gifty has led award-winning teams and her current team won the Local Government Chronicle (LGC) 2004 Legal Department of the Year award. Her Legal Services team secured the Lexcel award and she also led the team which obtained the Investors In People award for the Council.
 
Gifty also won the Excel Ghana Professional award for the Lawyer of the Year 2002.
 
Gifty has written a number of articles on legal issues and often speaks at conferences. She is an accredited mediator.
 
Gifty was President of the Association of Council Secretaries and Solicitors (ACSeS) until November 2005.
