WELCOME TO BLD's NEWSLETTER
Welcome to our December Newsletter,
the last of 2006. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your
support and to wish you a happy Christmas and a prosperous and wonderful
2007.
There is no Lawyer or Non-Lawyer of the Month in December as as we take a retrospective look at our Lawyers of the Month for 2006 (See below). Our Non-lawyers in 2006 have included Doreen Lawrence and Baroness Prashar.
It has been a hectic year since our launch in February and we are delighted that our latest sponsor is No 5 Chambers, the UK's largest set of chambers. We hope to build on our achievements to make 2007 even more successful.
November was a busy month for the larger law firms in their graduate recruitment drive and we at BLD have been busy too. We held the Training Contract and Vacation Placement Workshops in Birmingham and London on the 9th and 16th respectively. This was sponsored and ran by DLA Piper and we have had excellent feedback from the attendees, mostly students from universities all over England and Wales.
Other events in 2006 included events in London in May, which was sponsored by Herbert Smith and the July event in Birmingham, which was sponsored by Wragge & Co. Our Black History Month event in London was sponsored by Clifford Chance and to mark Black History Month we jointly launched Black Letter Law with the CRE. Our next main event is in London on 1 March 2007 and is being sponsored by Allen & Overy. Watch this space for more information!
