WELCOME TO BLD`s NEWSLETTER
Welcome to our October 2006 newsletter. October is Black History Month and we are particularly excited about our Lawyer and Non-Lawyer of the Month as they have brought about significant changes to the legal profession. Our organisation in Focus whilst celebrating its thirtieth anniversary this year will not be in existence beyond April 2009.
We are also excited that within seven months of BLD's launch, the world's largest law firm, Clifford Chance LLP is sponsoring and hosting our Black History Month event which is taking place on the 5th October 2006 (see below under what is going on for more details). At the event, the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE) Legal Directorate, in association with BLD will be launching a publication highlighting the contributions of black and minority ethnic (BME) lawyers to the legal profession.
There are a some places left for our free Work Placement and Training Contract Workshops in November, generously sponsored by DLA Piper (see below under Jobs and Careers for further information).
Another reminder that our compilation of the UK BME Judges and QCs continues and we need your help. Please see Did You Know That? below for further details. We cannot do it without your help as this information is simply not available anywhere.
