Lawyers of the Month

Angela Jackman was our Lawyer of the Month for April. She is a partner at the London office of Maxwell Gillott and was the winner of the Outstanding Achievement award at the Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year Silver Jubilee awards in 2009.

The purpose of Lawyer of the Month is to showcase the breadth of talent of ethnic minority lawyers despite their under-representation at the top and wherever there is real lucrative work. There is so much to be done, and that can be done, and the Diversity League Table 2006 graphically demonstrates this in the statistics of the Top 100 law firms. However, despite that, the wealth of talent of black minority ethnic lawyers is amazing and we at BLD want to celebrate it in our Lawyer of the Month features.

"With the publication of Black Letter Law there is one less excuse for those who report on, or lead, the profession to fail to include in their dealings senior lawyers whose background is more representative."
Eduardo Reyes, Commissioning and Features Editor of the Law Society Gazette
